Los Po-Boy-Citos gets the party cooking with tasty Latin soul and raw New Orleans funk. Starting with a base of boogaloo born in 1960s Harlem, the band adds horns reminiscent of a New Orleans second line to create something uniquely original.
Los Po-Boy-Citos started out in 2006 by combining old-school boogaloo songs by Willie Bobo and Mongo Santamaria with New Orleans R&B hits. What began as some friends jamming together quickly morphed into a club favorite as they began to write originals that sounded as good as the classics. Their latest album Hasta introduced new boogaloo originals like “Mary Wants to Boogaloo” and “Oye Mamacita.”
Los Po-Boy-Citos has recorded two previous CDs, Brand New Dance and New Orleans Latin Soul, and a 45rpm record.
